In swimming...you need...dedication, strength, both physically and mentally, perserverece, passion, the urge to be just a little bit better and dont forget the most important thing, courage. Courage to swim your most dreaded stroke. Courage to sprint until you can't breath, or walk. Courage to be the best, YOUR best. GO BIG OR GO HOME! im applying all those things at swim practice, be back later!

Swimming is the only sport where you go from point A to point A and have to work like hell to get there.

Swimmers don't swim because its fun. Ask any of us, most of us hate it, but we couldn't imagine our lives without it. Its part of us, something we live for. We live for the 3 hr practices, the team parties, the long bus rides, the invitationals, the countless swim caps, the jokes, the friendships, the laughs, the love, the coaches you hate but appreciate later, and the sport itself. We live for the way you become a family with your team, and no one understands what happens within that pool or locker room but you and your teammates. We live for the countless songs you sing in your head when you're swimming all those laps. We live for the people who scream at you while you're swimming even though all you hear is BLAH BLAH BLAH. We live for the competition, we live for the friends, we live for the practice, and we live for the pain. We live for the team; it's a part of us because we are swimmers.

It's been told that swimming is a wimp sport, but I don't see it. We don't get timeouts, in the middle of a race we can't stop and catch our breath, we can't roll on our stomachs and lie there, and we can't ask for a substitution.

Somebody has to stop the clock, mind as well be you.

Instant Swimmer, Just Add Water.

We swim because we are too SEXY for a sport that requires clothes.

In training everyone focuses on 90% physical and 10% mental, but in the races its 90% mental because there's very little that separates us physically at the elite level.
